Living with COVID-19

As the pandemic runs its course, MACC Care continues to prioritise the health, wellbeing and safety of all within its care home communities; residents, staff members, families and visitors.

Monitoring the evolving health situation closely and following Government advice, we have implemented protocols across all aspects of our homes’ operations in order to protect people, particularly the most vulnerable.

Restrictions may have eased, but rest assured our standards, attention to detail and levels of vigilance remain rigorous.

“While everyone welcomed the easing of restrictions, the ‘new normal’ at MACC Care means continuing to do all that we can to keep our residents, their loved ones and colleagues safe and well.

Each MACC Care home follows Government guidance; we regularly undertake local IPC (infection prevention and control) audits and for extra peace of mind, our own audits are also in place. Our staff are currently testing twice weekly and undertake their roles in compliance with the latest PPE (personal protective equipment) guidelines. If an outbreak were to occur in home the next of kin would be informed and advised as per IPC guidance in relation to the home at the time.

Safety-first

MACC Care has placed considerable emphasis on implementing the very best technology and Covid-safe amenities available, so that everyone can keep safe and well, whilst continuing to enjoy life within its homes.

We continue to adhere to stringent cleaning processes and where necessary, in line with guidelines, have adapted our environments to help reduce the risk of spreading the disease.

Even though restrictions have eased, to maintain safety and minimise transmission, many visitors opt to spend time with their loved ones in the visiting rooms, garden pods and protected spaces we created to facilitate essential human connections throughout our homes. Such is the care and compassion that thrives within our wonderful care home communities.

The current situation

A summary of what the latest Government guidance means at MACC Care:

  • No LFT (lateral flow testing) is required prior to visiting (unless personal care is provided to a resident)
  • For the safety of all, visitors should wear a face mask and practice hand hygiene
  • There is no restriction on visitor numbers, though we would still prefer visits to be scheduled
  • Communal areas, indoors and out, may be enjoyed more freely throughout our homes
  • All MACC Care staff continue to test twice weekly
  • Testing is not required for residents returning to homes after days out
  • Staff are trained to recognise Covid symptoms and will test residents who display symptoms
  • MACC Care will continue to keep families and carers updated of any changes in procedures or protocol
  • We support the vaccination programme, currently in the second booster phase of rollout

Did you know…

Willow Rose, which opened its doors to welcome residents at the height of the pandemic, gained ‘Designated Setting’ status as a facility accredited to provide NHS support for post-Covid admissions – individuals leaving hospital and requiring appropriate care over an isolation period.

This attainment is testament to the commitment of our people and the dedication to best practices that are upheld across our family of homes.

“The CQC process will provide assurance that each designated setting has the policies, procedures, equipment, staffing levels, appropriate skills mix and training in place to maintain IPC and support the care needs of residents. Designated settings are also expected to have appropriate physical separation of COVID-19 positive people, and a dedicated staff team.
