Respite Care

Short term stays

within luxury settings

MACC Care is proud to offer professional respite care of the highest quality, across its extended care homes family. They say that a ‘change is as good as a rest’ and professional respite care can provide the perfect ‘pick-me-up’ for residents – or a place to convalesce and gain strength, perhaps after a period of illness or a stay in hospital.

Respite care also offers families and primary carers a break from their care commitments – perhaps necessary due to illness, freeing the time to take a holiday or simply to rest and recharge the batteries.

The opportunity to try out a

MACC Care home without the commitment

For anyone thinking about longer term residential or nursing care, a short stay is the ideal, ‘commitment free’ way to see if a loved one would be happy with us. They can relax in the comfort of their own room, experience our superb dining and leisure facilities, enjoy new activities and experiences, make new friends and see if they feel safe, comfortable and content.

It’s worth considering that any change of environment can feel unsettling, so we always recommend a respite stay of at least two/three weeks. This allows time for individuals to settle in and relax and get to know staff and other residents. It also gives our teams time to really get to know a loved one, enabling them to support their individual health and care needs, and to deliver the quality of care and support MACC Care is known and loved for.

Easing the transition to long term care

A short-term stay can be useful to help pave the way for longer-term care, helping residents – and their families – to get a feel for the care home environment and the fun and friendship that comes from supportive community life.

And if you decide the home is the ‘right fit for you, the transition to long term care can be seamless, with minimal disruption.

Who is respite care suitable for?

Respite care is perfect for those who would benefit from a short-term stay – ranging from a matter of weeks to several months – within a safe, welcoming and luxurious care environment offering 24-hour residential and nursing support.

Some residents and their families or carers benefit from regular, recurring respite stays, allowing time for loved ones and everyone involved in their care to enjoy a break. And as many residents will attest, such is the level of luxury and facilities at MACC Care, that many of our homes feel like 5* hotels!

“I just knew that Dora Rose was the place for my dad, and two weeks after his settling in, he asked if he could stay permanently. In nine months since he arrived his and my experience has been amazing.”
